FLOWERS OF TURKEY
Many tourist visit Turkey,but only a small number among these tourists like to see plants in Turkey.The historical architectures of Istanbul.Cappadocia,Pammukkale and ancient Hittite and Roman excavations are the main reasons for many tourists visiting Turkey.

However,when we visit these touristy places,we also notice so many plants beyond our expectations.According to one theory,there are over 10.000 plant species which includes 3.500 species of endemic flowers.This is as many as in Europe all together.

Tulip or in Botany Tulipa, derived from the Turkish word tulbend or turban, which the flower resembles, is the national flower of Turkey.

Available in a huge variety of bright colors, including white, yellow, pink, red, black, purple, orange, bi-colors, and multi-colors, Tulips are also considered as the King of Bulbs. In Turkey Tulips became and important style of life within the arts and folklore, many embroidery and textile clothing handmade by women, carpets, tiles and miniatures had tulip designs or shapes.

Some of the famous native flowers of Turkey are Winter Aconite (Eranthis hyemalis)Herbaceous, Snowdrop (Galanthus), Wind Flower (Anemone blanda), Lenten Rose (Hellebores orientalis), Cyclamen Coum, Opium and Crocus, the crocus are one of the best loved and best known flower native to Turkey.

Turkey is a cultural intersection between Asia and Europe,but also it has a diverse climates.The Black Sea region has a rainy climate. The central Anatolia plain has an arid climate. The mediterranean and Aegean regions have mild climates. Therefore it’s not a surprise to see so many species of plants in Turkey.
